Mike de Leon classic restored

MANILA, Philippines - The digitally-restored Kung Mangarap Ka’t Magising, the 39-year-old Mike de Leon classic starring Christopher de Leon and Hilda Koronel (right), was recently shown at Rockwell Cinema attended by a starry audience that included Buboy Garovillo (above, with Leo Katigbak, head of the ABS-CBN Film Archives & Restoration) who is a member of the film’s cast.

‘The restoration was actually done locally by Central Digital Labs from 2K quality scans by Ritrovata,’ said Katigbak whose group has restored other classics. ‘The restorers labored 1,000 hours of manual digital restoration. The music restoration was supervised by Mike de Leon himself.’

Other films restored as part of REELive The Classic series include Sana Maulit Muli, Kakabakaba Ka Ba, Karnal, Basta’t Kasama Kita, Love Me Again, Milan and Ikaw Ay Akin.
