Jose Manalo says Yaya Dub fainting for real

MANILA, Philippines - Comedian Jose Manalo says the fainting of Maine Mendoza, also known as Yaya Dub, during an episode of "Eat Bulaga" was real.

On Saturday, Maine fainted during a wedding scene which features her and Jose Manalo, playing the character of Frankie Arinolli, in the "Kalyeserye" segment of the GMA-7 noontime variety show.

The incident became a major trending topic online over the weekend.

Yaya Dub is one-half of the popular "Eat Bulaga" tandem AlDub, which also features actor Alden Richards. The two were supposed to meet for the first time during Saturday's episode.

In an interview with GMA-7 news program "24 Oras Weekend" aired on Sunday, Jose shared that Maine told him she wasn't feeling well before she fainted.

So sabi ko sa kanya, 'Totoo ba yan?' Maya maya, gumanon siya, hinawakan niya ako. Tapos naramdaman ko yung pisil niya. Tinignan ko na siya. Maputla 'yung bata. Tapos ayun, bumagsak na," Jose said

Jose said Wally Bayola, who was also present during the Kalyeserye segment as Lola Nidora, had to keep the show going despite Maine's fainting.

Eat Bulaga issued a statement regarding Maine's condition via its Facebook page on Saturday.
