Empress on what ‘completes’ her

Curtain-raisers:

• This actress bluntly refuses to have a kissing scene with her leading man in a teleserye coming soon. Reason: Bad breath. Not hers. His. She would make parinig before a take, “O, toothbrush na tayo, mouthwash na tayo, bago mag-kissing scene.” Still no effect. A friendly tip to the actor: Gargle with either Listerine or chew Peppermint Gum. Okay: Lights, camera, action!
• Could it be true that an actor/TV host’s mother is so mad at him not only because she’s against his new girlfriend (also a TV host) but also because he has let his girlfriend occupy his extra condo unit (where his US-based parents would stay when they are around)? “Now the parents don’t want to come home otherwise they would have to stay in a hotel,” said the Funfare DPA. “The mother favors the son’s ex-girlfriend who is engaged to a non-showbiz guy.”
•  A singer-actress is, according to another Funfare DPA, “nagkakalat ng lagim (spreading horror)” in the US. Twice separated from her husbands (yes, plural), the actress reportedly committed a “crime” against her friend who let her stay in her (the friend’s) house, only for her to “steal” her friend’s husband. Naturally, the friend drove her away. “But she’s safely sheltered somewhere,” added the DPA, “courtesy of the husband who pays for the rent, with pocket money to boot.” Actually, it’s nothing new. “The actress also did the same thing to another friend who extended the same kindness to her,” said the DPA. “It happened in a country not too far from the Philippines.”

Whether a Kapamilya (previously) or a Kapuso (which she is now), Empress Schuck tries hard to do her best.

“I can’t do less,” she said. “What’s important is to always prove yourself worthy of the role given to you.”

In her ongoing soap, Kailan Ba Tama Ang Mali (airing on GMA’s Afternoon Primetime Monday through Friday), Empress plays Sonya, a woman who falls in love with Leo, a married man (played by Geoff Eigenmann), with co-stars Max Collins as Amanda, Leo’s wife; and Dion Ignacio as Oliver, Amanda’s boss who falls in love with her.

Directed by Gil Tejada Jr., the soap also stars Shamaine Buencamino (as Amanda’s mom), Ryza Cenon (Sonya’s sister), Chariz Solomon (Sonya’s liberated friend), Ash Ortega (Amanda’s younger sister) and Ken Alfonso (Oliver’s best friend and business partner).

Funfare asked Empress to take the “Complete The Sentence” quiz: 

• I hate people…who are so into my life, like the bashers. I don’t know how they spend precious time bashing people.

• I avoid people…who are so negative. I can easily sense my surroundings, mabilis akong makahugot ng vibes. If those in the same room with me are quiet, I am also quiet. But if they are noisy, I’m also noisy. Ang bilis kong mahawa. So pag negative kang tao, pwedeng maging negative din ako.

• My greatest pleasure in life…is my collection of bags siguro.

• My worst moment…was when I had no work, no regular show, although may mga guesting ako and out-of-town “rakets.”

• My biggest fear is…losing someone I love.

• I pray for…everybody and everything — myself, my health, my career, my family and my friends.

• The most important person in my life is…I am a Daddy’s Girl so siguro ‘yung papa ko talaga.

• If I were to be reincarnated as an animal, I would be…a white horse.

• My most traumatic experience was…when I was involved in an accident a day before my 18th birthday. I walked into a sliding glass door and I sustained wounds that required several stitches.

• I deal with gossip by…just being cool about it. I don’t necessarily react or answer. Parang pa-cool lang, dedma lang.

• The one thing I can’t do without is…taking a shower.

• The guy that turns me on is…a gentleman. And when he smells good.

• The guy that turns me off is…’yung mahangin, ‘yung mayabang.

• My philosophy in life is…do your best and God will take care of the rest.

• I lose my temper when…the person is being so makulit na talaga. ‘Yung umaabot sa level na nakakairita na siya. Whatever that is too much.

• When I’m alone in my room, I fantasize about…my dreams in life and the things I want to be. I picture myself having a teleserye, a movie and a billboard.

• If I were somebody else I would be…Megan Fox.

• I’m happiest when…I get the things I want. Kahit bibili lang ng sapatos, yehey!

• My ultimate goal is…to be a CEO of my own company. I think if I were not an actress, I would be managing my own business.

• What I like about myself is…I’m so passionate in everything that I do.

• What I don’t like about myself is…sometimes I tend to be negative.
