Isabelle de Leon combines singing, acting in ‘Trenderas’

MANILA, Philippines- Isabelle de Leon, who we once knew as “Duday” in GMA’s sitcom “Da, De, Di, Do, Du,” is now reintroducing herself as Isabelle de Leon.

Isabelle took a break from showbiz as she finished her high school education, and settled a family issue which she refused to elaborate.

Isabelle made a comeback in 2010 as a singer. In 2013, she released her debut album, “LoveZone,” under PolyEast records.

She did a few acting projects in a number of teleseryes like “Sa mga Mata ni Anghelita,” “Nasaan Ka Elisa,” and “Maria Mercedes; and also in films like “Padre de Pamilya,” and “Soliloquy” to name some.

“Na-miss ko rin umarte talaga,” Isabelle replied in an interview Wednesday, when asked why she is making a comeback in acting.

The 20-year-old actress-singer said she doesn’t regret taking a break since “do’n ako nagkaro’n ng chance sa music, matutong umawit, nag-voice lesson po ako kay Kitchie Molina. Tapos nag-aral po akong magsulat ng kanta.”

Now, Isabelle will get to do the two things she loves - acting and singing - in one project as she stars in TV5’s upcoming series “Trenderas.”

She will play a lead role here together with Katrina Velarde of A.K.A. Jam and Lara Maigue who is the composer of the song “Sa Iyo Na Lang Ako,” which was one of the top five finalists in Philpop 2013.

The show will air every Saturday, starting September 13, at 9 p.m.

“Sobrang grateful po ako dahil bihira lang po nabibigyan ng ganitong opportunity,” she said about her project. “I believe kung makikita naman nila ‘yong hard work mo, at pinapakita mo ‘yong best mo, ibibigay naman po nila ‘yon sa inyo. At siyempre, only God holds the future.”

Being part of showbiz, Isabelle is aware that there will always be controversies. In her case, reports came out that she had her nose done.

“Ang sagot po dyan, e, oo na hindi,” she replied when asked to clarify the reports. She then explained that she had undergone a treatment due to nasal polyps, which was caused by her asthma.

“Nagkaro’n po ako ng nasal polyps and I had to take steroids para mawala po ‘yon,” she further adds. “Umabot po sa puntong nahirapan po akong kumanta. So they had to remove that nasal polyp.

“May tinanggal po na polyp sa aking ilong, para mas makakanta po ako, at hindi ako mahirapan huminga.”
