Vice on MMFF rivalry with Kris: ‘Panandaliang hindi naisip yung friendship’

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Vice Ganda opened up on the reported tension between him and friend Kris Aquino during the recently-concluded 39th Metro Manila Film Festival.

Kris admitted her friendship with Vice was affected because of their competing MMFF films. The actress-TV host starred and co-produced “My Little Bossings” while the comedian starred in “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy.”

“The night before mag-showing (December 24), he (Vice) texted me. He said, 'Whatever happens, know that I love you ha.' Hindi ko pa siya sinagot noon kasi na-affect naman ako sa paulit ulit niyang sinabi na 'Kris, tatalunin ka namin’” Kris said on her morning talk show “Kris TV.”

In an interview with ABS-CBN’s late night news program “Bandila” aired Monday, January 13, the 37-year-old comedian admitted that he and Kris temporarily set aside their friendship because of “healthy competition.”

“Syempre kasi kaya nagkaganun, pareho naming kinarir yung dalawa naming pelikula, e,” Vice said.

He added, “Sobrang karir siya, sobrang karir ako. Panandalian, hindi muna naming naiisip yung friendship. Ang naiisip lang namin, kailangan naming karirin ang pareho naming pelikula.”

Vice added everything has been settled between him and Kris and that they even texted each other when the TV host-actress was in London for the holidays.

“Tinext niya. Sabi niya, ‘Hoy, I just bought you a pair of Louboutins.’ Sabi ko, ‘Ay, thank you.’ Tapos sabi niya, 'May gift ka ba sa akin?' Sabi ko, 'Wala pa, e. Ano ba ang gusto mo? ' Tapos hindi siya sumagot,” Vice shared.

Vice renewed his contract with ABS-CBN yesterday.
