Angeline Quinto, Gloc 9 win big at 26th Awit Awards

MANILA, Philippines – Angeline Quinto and Gloc 9 got the most number of awards at the 26th Awit Awards, with both taking home three awards each.

Angeline got awards from three categories: her song "Lipad", which she performed with Regine Velasquez, won Best Inspirational Recording; and another song, "Nag-iisang Bituin", won the Best Song Written for Movie/TV/Stage play. She was also named I-Gateway Mobile Philippines' Most Downloaded Artist for 2012.

Gloc 9, for his part, bagged awards from three categories as well: his album "MKNM" won the Album of the Year; his song "Sirena" won the Song of the Year; and the music video of his song "Sirena" won the Best Music Video of the Year.

On the other hand, Gary Valenciano, The Company and Sponge Cola each got two awards.

Gary V. took home the Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist plum for the 12th time now, and the Best Ballad Recording award for his song "Hanggang sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan."

The Company then copped the Best Collaboration award with Tria Bascon for the song "With a Little Help from My Friends, and Best World Music Recording for the song "Pinoy na Krismas."

OPM band Sponge Cola, meanwhile, took with them the Mymusicstore's Most Downloaded Song award for 2012 for the song "XGF" and the Mymusicstore's Most Downloaded Artist title for 2012.

Some new artists were also given recognition, including Daniel Grospe who got the Best Performance by a New Male Recording Artist award and the Best Novelty Recording plum for his song "Kesa."

The all-female group Baihana got two awards as well: Best Performance by a New Group Recording Artist and Best Jazz Recording for the song "Big Time."

Aiza Seguerra bagged the award for Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist; Franco being the Best Rock/Alternative Recording; Julie Anne San Jose as the Best R&B Recording; and Noel Cabangon for the Best Regional Recording.

Further, Chito Miranda's composition won the EGG's Allhits.ph's Most Downloaded Song for 2012, while and Daniel Padilla' self-titled album is the Best Selling Album of the Year.

Best Dance Recording: "Matinik" by Kenjhons

Best Christmas Recording: "Christmas Moments" by Jose Mari Chan and his children Michael Philip, Jose Antonio, Liza Chan-Parpan, and Franco

Best Rap Recording: "Tao Lang" by Loonie featuring Quest

Best Musical Arrangement: "With a Little Help from My Friend" arranged by JD Villanueva

Best Vocal Arrangement: "With a Little Help from My Friend" by vocal arranger Moy Ortiz

Best Engineered Recording: "Send in the Clowns"

Best Album Package: "Moonstar 88-This Year" and "First class: Outbound Expanded Edition"

I-Gateway Mobile Philippines Most Downloaded Song for 2012: "Ligaw"

EGG's Allhits.ph's Most Downloaded Artist for 2012: "Where's the Sheep?"
