MANILA, Philippines - Janet Napoles, the businesswoman who is allegedly behind the P10-billion pork barrel scam, became an instant trending topic on social media right after she surrendered to President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday night.

Keywords and hashtags such as Janet Napoles and Camp Crame became trending topics on Twitter Philippines on Thursday, August 29, during the Malacañang’s press briefing on Napoles’ surrender.

The phrase “At 9:37,” the reported time Napoles surrendered to Aquino, and Heritage Park, where Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda picked up Napoles, also became trending topics.

Netizens immediately shared their comments and conspiracy theories on why Napoles surrendered, less than a day after it was reported that the Aquino is offering a P10-million reward for information that will lead to the arrest of the alleged pork barrel scam mastermind.
