Patricia: Too hot to handle?
January 27, 2003 | 12:00am
Expect thermometers to register a significant rise when sexpot and singing star Patricia Javier takes center stage at the Folk Arts Theater on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 12. The show is titled Rated PJ: Too Hot to Handle and it will be her biggest break as a concert artist. Producer is David Laos Prelude Entertainment and direction is by Joy Alonzo.
Patricia of the pretty face and the stunning figure made her name via sizzling love scenes in films like Peque Gallagas Ang Kabit ni Mrs. Montero and Quark Henares Gamitan. Unknown to many, though, Patricia actually started in showbusiness as a teen-aged singer in the TV show Thats Entertainment and doing sweet young thing roles in the movies. So despite her success as an adult actress, it was only logical for her to find a way to return to her first love.
This happened with the release of her first recorded album PJ Patricia Javier late last year. A great come-on for buyers were several photographs of the lovely singer in the cover. But after listening to the contents, many admitted they were pleasantly surprised with the way Patricia acquitted herself as a singer. The girl can sing and the combination of dance tunes and pop ballads the album acquired a vast degree of sensuality, thanks to her image as one of the sexiest actresses in local showbiz today.
As with what usually happens with an album release, Patricia put acting on hold and went on a singing tour to promote the album here and abroad. Once again she proved herself a capable performer. In fact, she was so good that when David Lao caught her sold-out concert debut at Dish in Rockwell, he decided that she is the right girl to headline the song and dance concert that Prelude was planning for the Valentine season.
The big-budgeted show will feature cuts from Patricias own album plus song and dance tributes to the pop divas of today like Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and others. Out of the 20 songs that Patricia will perform, at least 10 will be large production numbers with different dancers, choreography, visual effects and other things that go into the making of a real spectacle, plus, of course, just as many costume changes. It means a lot of hard work but Patricia is ready for the challenge.
To check out the results of all her hard work, get your tickets now from Ticketworld outlets, major National Bookstore branches, Tower Records, Robinsons Department Store Glorietta 1, Greenbelt 1, Music Museum, Photoplus and the Prelude office.

Congratulations to Billy Crawford for being chosen as the Best International Male Artist at the 4th Annual NRJ Music Awards held in Cannes last Saturday, Jan. 18. Billy who made a grand entrance astride a motorbike when he performed his big hit You Didnt Expect That during the ceremonies, bested Eminem, Robbie Williams and Will Smith for the title.
This is the second time that Billy was nominated in the yearly event conducted by a French radio station. Fans cast the votes and just like we have known all this time Billy is already a big star in Europe and is set to also conquer the UK and the US. Add this to all those things we are very proud of and keep your fingers crossed that Billy will also make it as an actor in the upcoming motion picture Exorcist: The Beginning.
