Maceda wants 'student's discount' on books, cellphone load

MANILA, Philippines - Long-time lawmaker Ernesto Maceda sought another bid for a Senate seat purportedly to push for "student's discount" in consumer purchases similar to the grant for senior citizens.

Maceda, running under the United Nationalist Alliance ticket, said in an exclusive interview with Philstar.com that such discount aims to minimize learners' expenses for books, school supplies, food and even their cellphone load.

In the video below, Maceda also discussed his hopes for an expanded scholarship program for college students from low-income households as well as the plan to create three millions jobs.
