All-women ultra race kicks off tonight
CEBU, Philippines - No less than Senator Pia Cayetano leads the cast as the 3rd All-Women's Ultra-Marathon kicks off at 10:00 tonight starting at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds up to the Alta Cebu Village Resort in Cordova.
Aside from the lady senator, also joining the grueling race are runners from Manila, Mandaluyong, Taguig, Tiaong, Quezon, Dasmariñas, Cavite, Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Surigao, Butuan, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental and Valencia City, Bukidnon.
The rest of the participants are from the Visayas area namely Dumaguete and Sibulan, Negros Oriental, Tacloban, Silay, Bacolod, Palo, Hilongos, Leyte, and Catbalogan, Samar.
From host Cebu 'Ungo og Dagan' fields in the most number of entries at 25, while Any Day Runners (ADR), Toledo Adik Og Dagan and G6 Runners have 13 each.
Since the cut-off time of the 50-kilometer run is 10 hours, even the neophytes are expected to make it to the official list of finishers. — (FREEMAN)
