CEBU, Philippines - A two-year-old boy died after he literally ran into trouble in Barangay Biasong, Talisay City late Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, Jeffrey Abusejo Jr., died of massive head injuries after the suspect allegedly held his feet and hit the boy’s head on the concrete road several times.

The boy was first rushed to the Talisay District Hospital, but was later transferred to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries. He was declared dead on arrival at DVSMMC.

The suspect was identified as Kienner Baller, 35, a neighbor of the victim. Baller, who once underwent rehabilitation for drug abuse, allegedly got irked at the child for bumping into him.

Dangerous Game

The young victim was playing with other kids in their neighborhood when the suspect passed by.

The boy reportedly accidentally bumped Baller while he was running, which angered the suspect.

Baller reportedly picked the boy up and held him by his feet and slammed the child’s head on the road several times.

After doing that, Baller also allegedly bit the neck of the child.

The victim’s mother, who saw the incident, rushed to the boy’s aid, but was pushed away by the suspect.

The father, Jeffrey Sr., was at the back of their house repairing their television set, when he heard his wife’s cry for help.

When he came to help, he saw their son on the pavement already clinging to dear life.

As If Nothing Happened

The suspect reportedly fled the scene after the incident and went to their home.

From there, Baller went to the shore and was seen playing on the beach when he was arrested by the police.

Christina Baller, elder sister of the suspect, as well as his sister-in-law Ruth Saniel, went to the Talisay Police Station when they learned of the arrest.

They said that they want Baller to be kept there and urged the family of the victim to pursue the case.

They confirmed reports that the suspect recently underwent drug rehabilitation for six months.

Aliens?

When he was asked by his sister why he hurt the boy, Baller replied“Kan-on ko sa alien maong giunahan nako Manang…dili kaayo ko mahurot kung mausap ko sa alien.”(I might be eaten by the alien so I jumped the gun on them Elder Sister…They cannot finish eating me if the alien will chew on me.)

Christina said that Baller had been alone in his house and just watched horror movies the whole day.

The suspect was also allegedly talking to himself.

The sister-in-law said that Baller once worked as a seaman, but lost his job due to alleged drug use.

His wife reportedly left him two years ago for the same reason. They don’t have children.

Christina said that her brother killed the dog of his wife when he got very depressed as she no longer communicated with him.

Insp. Margienette Yosores, chief of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk, said she will talk to the parents of the victim today. —/NLQ - THE FREEMAN
