Cebu Pacific offers lightest aircraft seat
MANILA, Philippines - Cebu Pacific’s wholly owned subsidiary Cebgo, is using the world’s lightest aircraft seat Expliseat for its ATR 72-600 aircraft to promote fuel efficiency and offer more affordable fares.
The budget carrier said in a statement the titanium seat would be installed on all its 16 ATR 72-600 aircraft.
Of the 16 aircraft, two are currently being used by the airline.
Expliseat’s seat is made of ultralight materials such as titanium and carbon composite resources.
Through Expliseat, Cebu Pacific expects to decrease fuel burn and carry more guests and cargo on board.
“With Expliseat’s ultralight seats, CEB (Cebu Pacific) is able to provide comfortable seating to its guests while allowing for a more fuel-efficient operation which will lead to more affordable fares. With CEB’s low fare offer, we hope to further stimulate inter-island connectivity and contribute to the economies of the destinations we operate in,” Cebgo president and CEO Alexander Lao said.
At present, Cebu Pacific has flights to 37 domestic and 29 international destinations in Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and the US.
It has 57 aircraft on its fleet such as four Airbus A319s, 36 Airbus A320s, seven Airbus A330s, eight ATR 72-500, and two 72-600 aircraft.
From this year until 2021, it expects the delivery of 32 Airbus A321neos, one Airbus A330, and 14 ATR 72-600 aircraft.
Last year, the Cebu Pacific group served 19.13 million passengers, up four percent from 18.38 million passengers in 2015.
