NCRPO: Traslacion of Black Nazarene ‘generally peaceful’ so far
MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday afternoon said the procession or Traslacion of the Black Nazarene image is “generally peaceful” so far.
“So far ang nakita natin, generally peaceful naman. Wala tayong mga incidents of any snatching or any petty crimes,” NCRPO chief Director Oscar Albayalde said in an interview.
Albayalde, however, said they received reports of four injuries, missing children and two incidents where a devotee fainted.
As of 5:21 p.m., the image of the Black Nazarene is traversing under Quezon Boulevard Bridge.
NCRPO Spokesperson Kimberly Molitas said there were more or less 1,350,000 devotees who joined the procession.
Meanwhile, there are about 28,500 devotees waiting for the arrival of the image of the Black Nazarene and attending the Eucharistic Celebration at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene or Quiapo Church.
The crowd estimate was lower than the 15 to 18 million devotees expected to attend the Traslacion.
