Bohol state university execs dismissed
MANILA, Philippines – The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the dismissal and filing of criminal charges against four officials of the Bohol Island State University.
BISU president Elpidio Magante, director Lorenzo Sarigumba, dean Ambrosio Orillos and instructor Alan Jaum were slapped with the accessory penalties of cancellation of eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits, perpetual disqualification from holding public office and prohibition from taking the civil service examination.
The respondents will be indicted for violation of Republic Act 9184 or the Government Procurement Reform Act and falsification of public documents before the Sandiganbayan, the ombudsman said on Friday.
The Commission on Audit said the university officials split a project for the procurement of a mini dump truck worth P402,800 in 2009.
“Shopping was illegally resorted to by splitting the contracts for the purpose of evading or circumventing the requirements of RA 9184,” the ombudsman said.
