Anda Power eyes supply deal with CAGELCO I

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Anda Power Corp. is seeking clearance for a 10-year power supply deal with a Cagayan power distributor.

In a joint regulatory filing, Anda Power Corp. and Cagayan I Electric Cooperative Inc. (CAGELCO I) asked the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to approve their power supply agreement (PSA).

The ERC has set a hearing for their application on June 16.

The PSA involves the supply of 12.5 megawatts for ten years.

The power supply will be sourced from Anda Power’s $196.25-million, 82-megawatt coal-fired power plant within the TECO Special Economic Zone in Mabalacat, Pampanga.

CAGELCO I said only Anda Power responded to its requests for proposals (RFP) sent to four prospective generating companies in July 2015.

Sourcing new suppliers will allow the power distributor to meet its continuous load growth, as well as “mitigate is exposure to the wholesale electricity spot market (WESM) and the price volatility that comes with it.”

Simulations showed customers of CAGELCO I will see reductions in their monthly electricity bills with the Anda Power supply.

CAGELCO I distributes electricity to the city of Tuguegarao and 11 municipalities in Cagayan namely Alcala, Amulung, Baggao, Emile, Iguig, Penablanca, Piat, Rizal, Sto. Nino, Solana, and Tuao.
