Cory Vidanes is new ABS-CBN COO

MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN Corp. has named Cory Vidanes as its new chief operating officer (COO) of broadcast.

In a statement friday, ABS-CBN said Vidanes’ appointment would take effect on Feb. 1.

Vidanes will continue to take the lead in the total channel programming, artist development, on-air operations, events management, and overall revenue and profit delivery of the network.

She will also manage the development of new concepts for Channel 2 and ABS-CBN TVplus channels Yey, CineMo and Knowledge Channel, with the Content Development Council headed by chief content officer Charo Santos-Concio.

Vidanes has played a crucial role in making Channel 2 the most watched TV network in the country in 2015.

Under her leadership, the network dominated the primetime block through programs “The Voice Kids,” “FPJ’s Ang Probin-syano,” “Nathaniel,” “Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” and “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”

Vidanes’ leadership is also marked by her commitment to public service by spearheading the network’s relief operations and donation drive for victims of natural disasters.

She has been given the CEO Excel Award by the International Association of Business Communicators  Philippines in 2014 and was likewise recognized in People Asia magazine’s “People of the Year” in 2013 for her contribution to ABS-CBN’s achievements.

The official started her career in television with BBC-2 in 1982 and joined ABS-CBN in 1986 as associate producer.

In the following years, Vidanes was appointed to various posts in the company such as executive producer, assistant production manager, production manager, production director, head of TV production, Channel 2 head, head of broadcast, and head of free TV.

Vidanes completed an Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School in 2014, and holds a degree in Communication Arts from Ateneo de Manila University.

Earlier, ABS-CBN announced the appointment of Carlo L. Katigbak as its new president and chief executive officer effective Jan.1 of this year.
