Travel expo to highlight more local travel offers
More domestic travel packages with attractive rates will be made available during the 3rd Travel Catalogue International Exposition 2017 to be held in Ayala Center Cebu on February 17 to 19 this year.
Organized by Cebu Travel and Tours Association (CTTA) and Cebu Alliance of Tour Operations Specialists (CATOS), the event will bring together tourism suppliers from all over the country to showcase their respective destinations, including hotels, airlines.
Event chairperson Cookie Chan said that unlike in the past wherein international destination offers dominated the travel offerings, this time more local government units (LGUs) from different regions in the country are actively participating to promote their regions.
Although, international travel offers are still available such as Japan, the all-time-favorite of Filipinos — Hong Kong, Korea, as well as cruise packages, Chan said exciting and interesting destinations within the Philippines will be unveiled with pocket-friendly pricing.
Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley (Region 2), Central Luzon (region3) Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Central Visayas, the Southwestern Tagalog region or Mimaropa, and other regional destinations will be participating the three-day exhibitions. "There are a lot of special packages that can only be availed during the duration of the exhibition," said CATOS president Alice Queblatin.
This alliance of travel operators in Cebu noted that Visayas is identified as an important market for domestic destinations.
According to CATOS past president Edilberto Mendoza Jr., the active stance of regional destinations to showcase their places to the market is not only prompted by the heightened interest of Filipinos to travel within the country, but also boosted by the current administration's thrust to push local destinations.
Over 70 exhibitors will offer their travel packages on the 17Th to 19th, Queblatin said there will be cheap "barkadahan" and "family" packages that will be exclusively offered during the event for both local and international destinations. (FREEMAN)
